          CIM MES is delighted to announce that the 2016 MES-COSMO Scholarship recipient is Ziad Saliba.

          Ziad is pursuing a Master of Engineering degree in Mining and Materials Engineering at McGill University and is a research assistant at the COSMO ??? Strategic Mine Planning Laboratory.

          6. He came to McGill in 2011 to obtain a B.Eng in Mining Engineering from McGill???s Co-Op program. Ziad went on several internships throughout his studies, spending two summers in Senegal working at Teranga Gold???s open pit operation, Sabodala Gold Mine.

          He also spent a summer working at Cameco???s innovative underground uranium operation, Cigar Lake Mine in Northern Saskatchewan. Cameco???s development of the prototypical Jet Boring System to mine their challenging deposit whet Ziad???s appetite for innovation in the mining industry and his research now focuses on the development and implementation of intelligent stochastic optimization frameworks for strategic mine planning.
