Arkansas State University-Mountain Home’s Laura Knox and Tamara Mitchell will be honored this month at the Arkansas Association of Two-Year Colleges (AATYC) Annual Conference in Hot Springs, AR. Knox will be receiving the Outstanding Faculty Award and Mitchell the Outstanding Staff Award.
Over 800 two-year college faculty, staff and administrators attend the AATYC conference each year.
When education instructor Laura Knox looks at her students, she is thinking they could be future teachers for her sons, 11-year-old Billy and 9-year-old Steve.
This philosophy sets a “very high standard” for her education majors. Her sons also keep her abreast of the impact of technology on students. Laura’s background of 12 years in the public schools, covering instruction in the kindergarten and first grade classrooms, as well as counseling, along with the real world experience as mother of two, added to the textbook and theory, make Laura Knox an obvious choice as the 2013 Outstanding Facul
